This book is written for anyone who wants to get quickly ‘up to speed’ on some aspect of reflection seismology as it affects the seismic interpreter. It is a development of course notes on seismic reflection interpretation which have been given to students on the MSc course in Petroleum Geology at Aberdeen University over many years, and thus it takes the form of a course manual rather than a systematic textbook. It can be used as a self-contained course for individual study or as the basis of a class programme. The notes were originally provided to make the subject more accessible to geology students, but this volume should also prove useful to others, such as petroleum engineers, who have to work in an integrated exploration or development team side by side with geophysicists and geologists. The geology and geochemistry of petroleum are becoming ever more important as the demand for fossil fuels increases worldwide. We must find new hydrocarbon reserves that are hidden in almost inaccessible areas. Our knowledge of petroleum geology and geochemistry is the best intellectual tool that we have for the neverending search for rich new deposits of hydrocarbons.

Работа посвящена выяснению условии формирования и закономерностей размещения залежей нефти и газа в Днепровско-Донецкой впадине. Рассматривается влияние региональных слабопроницаемых толщ па формирование промышленных скоплений углеводородов. На основании результатов анализа вертикального размещения различных типов скоплений углеводородов дается оценка перспектив, нефтегазоносноести глубокозалегающих горизонтов осадочного комплекса. 

Приводятся рекомендации по повышению эффективности поисково-разведочных работ в регионе. 

В сборнике помещены статьи, посвященные различным вопросам нефтяной геологии, рассматриваются особенности строения и условия формирования нефтегазоносных структур на территории Украины, а также приводятся результаты гидрогеологического и геохимического изучения нефтегазоносных областей.

Разработка залежей нефти в отложениях баженовской свиты (БС) началась в 1974 г. на Салымской площади и производилась сначала разведочными  скважинами, а после в 1978 г. и эксплуатационными. Разведочная 12-ая скважина, положившая начало разработке БС, дала приток 720 м3 /сутки. Из БС получались фонтанные притоки нефти с дебитами более 100 тонн/сутки, но при этом, только каждая 4-ая скважина имела дебит более 10 тонн/сутки, а остальные 3 скважины либо не давали притоков, либо они составляли первые кубические метры в сутки [Батурин, 2010].

The Seventh Petroleum Geology Conference (PGC VII) was the latest in a prestigious series dating back to 1974. Over the years, this conference series and the associated proceedings volumes, commonly known as the ‘Barbicans’, have provided an important reference to NW Europe exploration and production, from its early life as an emerging world class petroleum province, through to its current mature stage.

Seismology is a branch of geophysics that aims for the understanding of earth’s interior, through the analysis of ground motion. The science of seismology began with study of naturally occurring earthquakes. Seismologists soon found that seismic waves produced by earthquakes contained valuable information about earth’s interior (crust, mantle, and core). Later they discovered that similar but much weaker man-made seismic waves could be used to interpret the shallow structure of earth, to locate minerals, water, and petroleum resources.
