In their introduction to the 75th Anniversary Volume of Economic Geology, Skinner and Simms (1981) recalled the philosophy of the founders of that prestigious journal. From the outset the objectives were defined as the scientific study of ore deposits, with particular emphasis on 'the chemical, physical arid structural problems bearing on their genesis.' At the same time a deliberate decision was made to avoid the 'engineering and commercial aspects of mining.' The emphasis on the genesis of ore deposits and  the avoidance of the practical aspects of mining geology have characterized not only the premier Western publication concerned with ore deposits, but also a tradition of teaching in the Western World. As a result newly graduating students who have taken courses in economic geology may be forgiven for believing that the study of ore genesis is the principal task of the industrial geologist. This attitude is very evident to us because we interview a large number of students who are on the point of graduating in geology . We continue to be surprised by the wide variations in the amount of time a new graduate may have devoted to the study of ore deposits during his or her university or college career. <...>

 Iran is positioned on the southwest of Asia forming a bridge connecting three continents of Asia, Europe, and Africa. The country is part of the Iranian Plateau that constitutes a vast and high terrane, which is bordered by the Caspian Sea on the north, Amu Darya, Syr Darya, and Kora River plains on the northeast, Sindh and Punjab Rivers plain on the southeast, the Oman Sea and the Persian Gulf on the south, and the Tigris river plain on the southwest (Comprehensive Geography of Iran 1987 ) <...>

Economic geology is a mixtum compositum of all geoscientific disciplines focused on one goal, finding new mineral depsosits and enhancing their exploitation. The keystones of this mixtum compositum are geology and mineralogy whose studies are centered around the emplacement of the ore body and the developmentof its minerals and rocks. In the present study, mineralogy and geology act as x- and y-coordinates of a classification chart of mineral resources called the “chessboard” (or “s preadsheet”) classification scheme. Magmatic and sedimentary lithologies together with tectonic structures (1-D/pipes, 2-D/veins) are plotted along the x-axis in the header of the spreadsheet diagram representing the columns in this chart diagram. 63 commodity groups, encompassing minerals and elements are plotted along the y-axis, forming the lines of the spreadsheet. These commodities are subjected to a tripartite subdivision into ore minerals, industrial minerals/rocks and gemstones/ornamental stones. <...>

Комплексная тематическая экспедиция (КТЭ) Красноярского геологического управления ежегодно проводит научно-производственные сессии, посвященные геологии и полезным ископаемым Красноярского края.

В основу настоящего сборника легли доклады, обсуждавшиеся на третьей научно-производственной сессии, проходившей  2—3  апреля   1963 года.

Третья сессия, как и две предыдущие, была организована и проведена по инициативе комсомольской организации и Совета НТО "Горное" КТЭ. Идея опубликования материалов сессии была горячо поддержана Красноярским городским комитетом ВЛКСМ, оказавшим большую помощь по изданию настоящего сборника.
