The 1 Oth International Symposium on Water-Rock Interaction (WRI-1 0), sponsored by the International Association of Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry (IAGC), the Italian National Research Council (CNR), the University of Cagliari and the Societa Geochimica Italiana, was held in Villasimius, Italy, June 10- 15, 200 1. Some 400 manuscripts were submitted by scientists from 45 countries for presentation in both oral and poster sessions of this symposium. Following reviews, 380 of these papers were accepted and included in these two volumes.
The published papers describe the results of latest research on water-rock interactions in different geochemical environments ranging from surface and ground water systems and sedimentary basins to magmatic and geothermal systems. Many papers report the application of advanced methodologies, including isotopes, geochemical codes and analytical techniques. Then, there is an increasing interest in integrated studies of the water-rock systems. <...>
