Earthquakes pose a significant threat to countries around the world. But, equipped with the right knowledge and tools, engineers and seismologists can support policy and decision-makers in creating a safer future for all of us. The Third European Conference on Earthquake Engineering and Seismology (3ECEES), jointly organized by Technical University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest (UTCB) and National Institute for Earth Physics (INFP) in Bucharest, Romania, in the period 4–9 September 2022, is a high-level forum for academia, scientists, engineers, professionals and policy-makers to share and exchange ideas, findings, approaches and solutions for promoting the values of earthquake engineering and seismology for the benefit of human kind, boosting the European
cooperation in these fields, pushing the frontiers of knowledge and providing to the decision-makers and officials the roadmap for the years to come aiming at seismic risk reduction and enhanced societal resilience.
